Mulberry Configuration

Effective July 1st 2014 this service will no longer be accessible outside of the UCSB campus networks. For off-campus access to email addresses we recommend using the People Finder service. Alternately we recommend using the Campus VPN Service for remote access to UCSB campus resources.

1. Before starting you'll need to know your UCSBnetID and password. If you don't know both of these you'll first need to sign-in to the Identity Manager and retrieve them.

2. Within Mulberry, navigate the menu to FilePreferences... (Windows) or MulberryPreferences... (Mac OS). Click the Accounts tab so that the "Accounts Preferences" pane is displayed, and ensure that the "Advanced" option at right is selected.

3. Under the "Account:" drop-down menu, select New.... Fill in the fields as follows and click OK.

Account Name: UCSB Directory
Account Type: LDAP Address Search

4. The new LDAP Address Search you just created is now displayed. In "Server:" field, enter the following and click OK.


5. If not already selected, click the Authenticate tab. Under the "Method:" drop-down menu select "Plain Text" and enter the following:

User ID: uid=[your ucsbnetid],ou=People,o=UCSB
Save User ID: [checked]
Save Password: [checked]

Then under the "Secure:" drop-down, select "SSLv3".

6. Click the Options tab and check "Use when Searching":

7. Click the Attributes 1 tab and enter:

Root: o=UCSB
Name: cn
Email: mail

8. Click Ok — you're all done. You can search the UCSB Directory by navigating the menu AddressSearch for Addresses.... Upon connecting the first time you'll need to provide your UCSBnetID password to search successfully.
