UCSB Identity provides authentication services based upon the UCSBnetID. See our technologist section for implementation details.

LDAP Authentication

Our LDAP Authentication services provide application-level authentication via the LDAP bind API. One may (and we strongly recommend) develop authorization rules based on the supplied LDAP attributes. See our developer documentation for details on our LDAP services and data dictionary.

Prior to using UCSB Identity authentication service, you'll need to register your application with us and get to get an application account. Please contact us for details.

Identity Passport

Passport is our authentication service for "extra-campus" authentication and federation. It provides for federated authentication (via Shibboleth) to services and resources outside of UCSB.

Oblix Netpoint / Espresso

Identity Services operates a deprecated single sign-on service based on the Oblix Netpoint software and used primarily within the Espresso suite of administrative applications. At this point we no longer have vendor support for the Netpoint software and provide technical support for the service operation on a best-effort basis. As such, no new applications should be developed using Netpoint services.
